• King George

King George isn’t just any ram—he’s farm royalty! Raised on a bottle and well-socialized from a young age, George is a gentle giant with a regal presence and a heart of gold. Unlike most rams, George doesn’t have the traditional curled horns, as he was dehorned at a young age. But don’t let that fool you—he still carries himself like true Icelandic nobility!

Despite his royal title, George is always down for some fun, especially when it involves head-butting battles with his best bud, Tucker the pygmy goat. Whether he’s strolling the pasture like he owns the place or greeting visitors with his calm, friendly nature, George is a favorite among both animals and humans alike.

    What Makes Icelandic Sheep Special?

Icelandic sheep are one of the oldest and purest breeds in the world, dating back over 1,000 years to Viking settlements. They are dual-coated, meaning their fleece has two layers:

    Tog – A long, water-resistant outer coat.

Þel (thel) – A soft, warm undercoat, prized for fine wool spinning.

Unlike many sheep breeds, Icelandic sheep aren’t traditionally sheared—instead, their fleece is collected through "rooing" (brushing or gently pulling when they naturally shed), making their fiber highly sought after by fiber artists and spinners.

King George may not wear a crown, but with his majestic presence and premium fleece, he is truly the king of the pasture! 👑🐏

  • Tucker

Tucker might be small, but he’s got a huge personality! Born an orphan after his mom passed away from old age, this little guy was bottle-raised and quickly became everyone’s favorite farm troublemaker.

Tucker is friendly, fearless, and full of energy—he’s the first to greet visitors, climb on anything he can, and make sure no one leaves without a good laugh. He’s especially famous for his epic head-butting battles with his best bud, George the ram. The two love to play rough and tumble, proving that size doesn’t matter when you’ve got confidence!

    What Makes Pygmy Goats Special?

Pygmy goats, like Tucker, are small but mighty! Originally from West Africa, they are compact, hardy, and incredibly social, making them popular as farm pets and companions. Despite their size, they are excellent foragers and adapt well to various environments.

Pygmies are also known for their playful and mischievous nature, always looking for their next adventure—or a snack. With Tucker leading the charge, there's never a dull moment on the farm!

If you're looking for fun, energy, and a whole lot of goat antics, Tucker is the life of the party and ready to steal the show! 🐐🎉

  • Maeve

Maeve is no ordinary sheep—she’s a fluffy, kid-loving, bottle-raised bundle of joy! Abandoned by her mom at birth, this resilient little ewe was hand-raised and bottle-fed, making her extra affectionate and totally convinced she’s not a sheep.

With a heart as soft as her wool, Maeve adores playing with kids, following people around like a puppy, and demanding scratches. She’s the ultimate farm greeter, always trotting over to say hello and nuzzle her way into your heart.

    What Makes Cormo Sheep Special?

Cormo sheep, like Maeve, are known for their incredibly fine, soft wool, which rivals even Merino wool in quality. Their fleece is highly prized by hand spinners and fiber artists because of its exceptional softness, elasticity, and ability to take dyes beautifully.

  • Beanie

Beanie is a fluffy ball of curiosity with a heart as big as her woolly coat! Raised alongside her best friend Maeve, Beanie was also bottle-fed and has grown into a lovable, people-friendly sheep who adores attention. She’s always the first to greet visitors, especially if there’s a chance for extra head scratches or a treat!

Unlike a typical sheep, Beanie acts more like a farm pet, happily trotting after kids, investigating pockets for snacks, and soaking up belly rubs. She’s as sweet as they come and loves being part of the action, whether it’s farm chores or simply lounging in the sun.

  • The flock

At Walela Farm & Garden, our flock of free-ranging chickens isn’t just here for fresh eggs—they’re the ultimate farm workers! These busy birds are natural pest control experts, scratching through the fields and gardens to keep insects, ticks, and parasites in check. They play a vital role in protecting our sheep by reducing the fly and parasite populations that can bother the flock. But perhaps their greatest achievement? They have single-handedly annihilated the yellowjacket population, a notorious pest often mistaken for bees. Thanks to their relentless hunting, our farm is no longer plagued by these aggressive stingers, making the pastures safer for both animals and humans alike. Whether they’re following the sheep through the fields, dust-bathing in the sunshine, or greeting visitors with curious clucks, our chickens are an essential part of farm life. Their nutrient-rich manure also helps fertilize the soil, making them a key player in our sustainable farming practices. From pest patrol to pasture companions, these feathered warriors do it all! 🐔🌿🐑🐝(🚫)

  • Guinnie & Rocket

No corner is safe from the playful antics of Guinnie and Rocket, our two fearless, fun-loving ferrets! These curious little troublemakers are always up to something—whether it's tunneling through blankets, stealing socks, or expertly sneaking into places they don’t belong.

Guinnie, the mastermind, is always plotting her next great escape, while Rocket, true to her name, zooms around at top speed, turning every moment into an adventure. Together, they keep the farm entertained with their endless energy, playful wrestling matches, and their ability to charm anyone with their wiggly dance moves.

Why Ferrets Are Amazing Farm Friends

Ferrets may be small, but they are natural-born hunters, historically used to keep barns and grain stores free of mice and pests. While Guinnie and Rocket mostly focus on stealing hearts (and the occasional shiny object), their sharp instincts and playful nature make them a fun and unique part of farm life.

Whether they’re curled up for a cozy nap or causing delightful chaos, these two are always keeping us on our toes. Life is never boring with Guinnie and Rocket, the fearless ferret sisters of Walela Farm!

  • Rabbits

Our rabbits bring endless joy, curiosity, and companionship to everyone who visits. Playful and full of personality, they hop, explore, and interact with visitors, making them perfect for hands-on learning and connection with nature. Beyond their adorable antics, rabbits offer numerous benefits—helping to teach responsibility, providing comfort as gentle therapy animals, and even contributing to sustainable farming through their nutrient-rich manure, which is excellent for gardens. Whether you're looking for a fun experience, an educational opportunity, or just a moment of relaxation, our rabbits are always ready to brighten your day with their charming and playful nature.

  • Emma & Chloe

Emma and Chloe, our feinting Nigerian Dwarf goat sisters, are the sweetest pair in the pasture. Shy by nature, they prefer to stay close together, cautiously observing before deciding to approach. While the more outgoing goats may steal the spotlight, these two quietly charm visitors with their gentle eyes and delicate curiosity. They take their time warming up, but once they do, they enjoy soft head scratches and the occasional treat. True to their breed, they sometimes have little fainting spells when startled, making them all the more endearing. With patience and kindness, Emma and Chloe’s quiet, loving personalities shine through, proving that sometimes, the most reserved animals have the biggest hearts.
